Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Lance Lynn is the only pitcher to win three starts with a new team after the trade deadline.

Lynn, 36, pitched five innings of four-hit, one-run ball with nine strikeouts to earn the win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning on Ahmed Rosario’s grounder to make it 2-1, giving Lin the win. The Dodgers, who effectively pounded out 11 hits, won 6-1 to extend their winning streak to six games and improve to 69-46 on the season. They are 9-1 in their last 10 games. 꽁머니

Lynn was traded to the Dodgers on May 29 when the Chicago White Sox waived him for the season. He was 6-9 with a 6.47 ERA with the White Sox. It was unclear how much he would add to the Dodgers’ starting rotation.

However, since joining the Dodgers, he has pitched two straight quality starts against the Oakland A’s (7 innings, 3 runs), the San Diego Padres (6 innings, 1 run), and today against the Rockies (5 innings, 1 run (unearned)). He’s now 9-9 on the season and his ERA has dropped to 5.88.

It’s hard to see how adding a starter, bullpen, or slugger at the trade deadline will help the team. In fact, it’s not uncommon for them to underperform. Lucas Giolito, who the Los Angeles Angels also acquired from the White Sox, is 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA in three starts. Giorito was 6-6, 3.79 with the White Sox.

The Dodgers have made the postseason every year since the Andrew Friedman era. Most notably, players improve when they are with the Dodgers. But when they leave the team, they become mediocre. It’s a sign of superior power analysis and team chemistry.

Other players like outfielder Casey Kike Hernandez (a super utility man) and infielder Ahmed Rosario have lived up to expectations.

The Dodgers have their worst pitching staff since moving the franchise west in 1958. They have a 4.36 ERA. But the addition of Lynn and the return of Clayton Kershaw has stabilized a shaky starting rotation. The five-man rotation of Julio Urias, Tony Gonsalves, rookie Bobby Miller, Lynn and Kershaw has been solidified.
