Former Journeyman catcher Gary Sanchez will be joining Ha-Sung Kim of the San Diego Padres.

“Sanchez is expected to sign with San Diego later in the day,” MLB.com reported on Tuesday, citing sources. No official announcement from the club has been made yet.

Sanchez has played in 669 career major league games, batting .225 with a .777 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage).

The former two-time All-Star and Silver Slugger winner was once a highly regarded catcher, but after 2020, he began a downward spiral in performance.

He signed a minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants in April, but failed to make the big leagues and was back on the market, joining the New York Mets but being designated for assignment after three games in the majors. 메이저사이트

If the San Diego deal is finalized, it will be the third time he has changed teams this season.

The Padres reached out to Sanchez because they’re having trouble at catcher. Starting catcher Austin Nola is batting just .131 in 39 games, and backup Brett Sullivan is struggling at .170 in 21 games. Luis Camposano is out long-term with a finger injury.
